Surreal Vintage Halloween Designs
Inspired by Real Streets, Real Decorations, Real Halloween -
Halloween is a big deal in our house. It's one of Lilly's favourite times of the year, so it naturally became part of how I see things around me.
Where we live in Ipswich, people actually make an effort with their decorations. Every year we walk the same streets and there are a few houses we always stop at — because they change things up every time and there's always something new to look at. It never gets old.
That's where this design came from. Those walks. The decorations, the atmosphere, the slightly odd little setups people create. Over the years all those small details added up into something I could see clearly — and that became this pattern.
Lilly wanted to add her own words, and I think her version captures the feeling from her side:
“Halloween is a special time of year — Trick‑or‑Treating, spending time with friends and family, watching spooky movies, and especially admiring the amazing decorations the neighbourhood puts up. The idea for this design came from the joy of experiencing Halloween and everything about it. I really hope you find the same happiness in these designs as me.”
That’s really the heart of it — a design built from real moments, familiar streets, and the small things that make this time of year feel different
If you’re interested in a recolour or resize, you can send your request through the form below so I can review it properly. This design is also available for collaboration and licensing, so feel free to share your project details there as well.
I created a small collection, and a plain stripe or polka dot pattern just wouldn't have done it justice. So I gave them both a twist.
The stripes are built from bones which a bit creepy. And the polka dots are berries that are kind of staring back at you from the garden :) . It sounds odd but it works, and it's what makes the collection feel like it actually belongs together surrealisticly rather than just a random mix of prints.
I love this collection together and I am defenetly going to work on this designs create more complex and surreal..
